Our Instructors

Laura Shannon-Madeja loves yoga, travel, dance, music, and art. She is a San Francisco native and grew up in the Excelsior District. She first discovered yoga as a youth while studying ballet, jazz, Afro-Haitian and modern dance. In the mid 90s, Laura traveled through South East Asia and the Himalayas where she began a broad and informal study of holistic world medicines and systems. It is at this time that her yoga practice deepened through various classes and personal research which continues to this day.  In 1999 she moved to Oahu, Hawaii  where she had the opportunity to study and train with masters of martial arts, holistic healing, yoga and spirituality. There, she earned a second degree blackbelt in Danzan Ryu. Laura traveled to Rishikesh, India for study and formal training, at the ashram Association for Yoga and Meditation India under Acharya Yogi Chetan Mahesh.
She is a registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance.
Laura returned to San Francisco and the Excelsior District in 2011 to help spread the benefits of yoga to her community.

Danilo Shannon-Madeja's personal practice of yoga began over thirty years ago on a suggestion from a friend that yoga would help with some back problems he developed as a wrestler in high school. A few years later, Danilo's practice of yoga became crucial in his self rehabilitation after an accident left him with two broken knee caps. In Hawaii, Danilo studied Danzan Ryu and earned a third degree black belt. He also travelled to Rishikesh, India to study at the ashram Association for Yoga and Meditation India under Acharya Yogi Chetan Mahesh. Danilo is a registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance.
