Laura Shannon-Madeja loves yoga, travel, dance, music, and art. She is a San Francisco native and grew up in the Excelsior District. She first discovered yoga as a youth while studying ballet, jazz, Afro-Haitian and modern dance. In the mid 90s, Laura traveled through South East Asia and the Himalayas where she began a broad and informal study of holistic world medicines and systems; deepening her yoga practice. In 1999 she moved to Oahu, Hawaii where she studied and trained with masters of martial arts, holistic healing, yoga and spirituality. There, she earned a second degree blackbelt in Danzan Ryu Jujutsu and the healing art Seifukujutsu. Laura traveled to Rishikesh, India for study and formal training, at the ashram Association for Yoga and Meditation. She is a registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance, and a certified Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Practioner. Laura returned to San Francisco and the Excelsior in 2011 to help spread the benefits of yoga and restorative bodywork to her community.
Danilo Shannon-Madeja's personal practice of yoga began over thirty years ago on a suggestion from a friend that yoga would help with some back problems he developed as a wrestler in high school. A few years later, Danilo's practice of yoga became crucial in his self rehabilitation after an accident left him with two broken knee caps. In Hawaii, Danilo earned a third degree black belt in Danzan Ryu Jujutsu and the healing art Seifukujutsu. He also travelled to Rishikesh, India and studied at the ashram Association for Yoga and Meditation. He is a registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance, and a certified Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Practitioner.
