Laura Shannon-Madeja first discovered yoga as a youth while studying ballet, Afro-Haitian and modern dance. In the mid 90s, Laura traveled through South East Asia and the Himalayas and began a broad and informal study of holistic world medicines and systems. It is at this time that her yoga practice deepened through various classes and personal research which has continued to this day. Laura loves travel, dance, music, and art. She is a San Francisco native and grew up in the Excelsior District. In 1999, she moved to Oahu, Hawaii and had the opportunity to study and train with masters of martial arts, holistic healing, yoga and spirituality. There, she earned a second degree blackbelt in Danzan Ryu. Laura then travelled to Rishikesh, India to study at the ashram Association for Yoga and Meditation India under Acharya Yogi Chetan Mahesh. She is a registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance. Laura returned to San Francisco and the Excelsior District in 2011 to help spread the benefits of yoga to her community.
